What a fantastic July we have had, with plenty of sunshine and events!
Kicking off with the most recent – what do you get when you mix four pubs, four miles, and a lot of enthusiastic runners? Our legendary 4 Miles, 4 Pubs event—of course! Running through the heart of Yeadon, we made spirited stops at the Hawthorne Farm, tucked into free pizza at The Nest (huge thanks to the team there!), enjoyed a swift one at the Stone Trough, and rounded off at our trusty home base, the 12th Man at Yeadon Cricket Club. A perfect blend of miles, mates, and merriment.
🏖️ Meanwhile, some of our more adventurous members tackled the breathtaking Northumberland Coast Race, swapping beer gardens for beach views and clocking up sunny seaside miles.
🌲 Lorraine led us off the beaten path with a couple of off-road trail runs. She brought the wilderness to our doorstep, and we loved every twist and turn.
👟 We celebrated big-time with our Couch to 5K graduates, who proudly crossed their final finish line at Roberts Park parkrun. With cheers, confetti (well… high-fives), and an amazing turnout of members running alongside, it was community at its finest. Thank you to Ken and Clare for your organising, and we are so pleased to welcome our new members to the club!
🏁 We wrapped up the HDSRL in Wetherby, marking the end of a brilliant series with smiles and some impressive finishes. Thanks to those who went and supported too throughout the series.
🌧️ The Golden Acre Relay might have been soggy, but with seven teams taking part, the rain did little to dampen our spirits. Squelchy shoes, soggy smiles, and lots of fun—definitely one for the memory bank.
🔥 Speaking of weather extremes, a hearty cheer for our Ilkley Half and 5K heroes who braved scorching temperatures to conquer the hills and hammer home for a well earned cool drink!
🎭 And who could forget the Oxenhope Straw Race? Picture nuns, vicars, hay bales, and pub sprints—and yes, we made the local news! You can’t make this stuff up, and we wouldn’t want to. Our runners might just be the most entertaining people in town.
🌅 To round things off, we’ve been enjoying warm summer evenings with club runs winding through our stunning local scenery—on and off-road, relaxed and radiant.
There’s definitely a theme here: sweat, smiles, and a touch of silliness. Whether it’s a formal race, an off-road trail, or a pint-laced fun run dressed as the clergy, we always run together—with heart, humour, and heaps of encouragement. Here’s to keeping it moving in August!
