PECO Cross Country League
During the winter months, our Captains enter a team into the PECO Cross Country League.
The league is a series of 5 cross country races organised in and around Leeds in which clubs affiliated to the League compete across men’s and ladies divisions. Races take place November- March and each race is about 4-5 miles. The races are a great introduction to cross country running and with entrants of all abilities taking part, this always proves to be a friendly Sunday morning event.

harrogate & district summer race league
The HDSRL is one of the oldest racing leagues in this part of Yorkshire and Dragons Running Club has entered a team and competed since around 2001! There are usually 5 events each year hosted by some of the participating clubs across West and North Yorkshire. There is often a buffet afterwards provided by those clubs that are able to do this, and if not, we Dragons will usually find a local establishment to take on a post-race refreshment anyway!
More information can be found on the HDSRL website:
Yorkshire Veterans’ athletics association
We are affiliated to the Yorkshire Veterans’ Athletics Association (YVAA). This means our age 35+ members can now sign up to take part in any of the Grand Prix or Championship events. You will need to register and pay a small entry fee for each event. Entry will cost £10 for your first race, which covers the cost of your race number with timing chip, then £6.75 for subsequent races, or £6 if you enter additional races on registration.
A couple of years ago, some Dragons took part in a few of these events with very positive feedback. The events are a fairly similar format to HDSRL, with refreshments provided post-race. There are a range of distances and terrains (5k – half marathon, road, cross-country, fell, relays).
Events run from March through to October so take a look at the website if you fancy running somewhere different and hopefully we can recruit a group of Dragons to take part in some of these events.
